           Ecphyadophoroides Corbett, 1964

    Synonyms:
      Tenunemellus (Siddiqi, 1986)

Corbett (1964) described two species from Malawi;  Ecphyadophoroides annulatus is the type species of Ecphyadophoroides while E. tenuis was erected by Siddiqi (1986) as the type species of the new genus Tenunemellus. It became Tenunemellus tenuis (Corbett, 1964) Siddiqi, 1986.

Morphology and Anatomy:

.

  • Cuticle with longitudinal ridges which are crossed by transverse striations to form cuticular blocks.
  • Lateral field with two incisures and a single ridge between them.
  • Head flattened and slghtly expanded, forming a bottle-shaped anterior profila.
  • Amphidial apertures are long slits in contour posterior to head.
  • Stylet with small knobs.

Female:

  • monodelphic prodelphic
  • vulva a transverse slitwithout lateral membranes.
  • Tail elongate conoid to pointed tip.

Male:

  • Bursal flaps somewhat rectangular and not extending much beyond edges of cloaca
  • Spicules tylenchoid; cloacal lips foorming a spicular tube.
  • Gubernaculum simple, linear, fixed.

Distribution:

Type species (E. annulatus) describwed from Malawi; another species (E. theae) described from Vietnam.
