Classification:

Tylenchida
 Tylenchina
  Tylenchoidea
             Tylenchidae
              Tylenchinae
               Ecphyadophorinae

 Chilenchus Siddiqi, 2000
Synonyms:
Raski collected the type species of this genus in Chile and, with Geraert, described it as Lelenchus elegans Raski & Geraert, 1986.. Siddiqi (2000) considered that characteristics of the species differed from those of the genus Lelenchus and established the genus Chilenchus for this species, recognizing Chile as the source of the type specimen.  Consequently, the type and only species is Chilenchus elegans (Raski & Geraert, 1986) Siddiqi, 2000.

The genus is placed in the subfamily Ecphyadophorinae Skarbilovich, 1959 because of the dorso-ventrally flattened head, the very slender body and the elongate to sinuous amphidial slits (Geraert, 2008)..
