Chromadorea Rhabditida Tylenchina Tylenchoidea Meloidogynidae Meloidogyninae
Meloidogyne paramali Gu, Fang, Ma, Shao & Zhuo. 2023
Review general characteristics of the genus Meloidogyne.
Considere to be similar to M. mali but differs morphologically and morphometrically in that the lateral fields at the perineal pattern are distinct and that there are differences in the J2 tail.
confirm that the species is distinct. Detailed phylogenetic analysis based on partial 18S, ITS, D2-D3 28S, and partial mtCOI sequences also confirmed the identity of the species and indicate that it is very close to M. mali and M. vitis and forms molecular group VIII (Gu et al., 2023)..
Meloidogyne paramali is characterized by J2 with a short tail length of 32.2 (24-36.8) um, finely rounded to broadly pointed tail terminus, and an extremely short hyaline tail terminus of 4.3 (3.0-4.9) um.
The perineal pattern of females is oval or irregular, with round dorsal arch, distinct lateral lines, and fine and smooth striae.

Detected on roots of Japanese maple trees (Acer palmatum) imporetd into China at Ningbo Port. The specimens appeared very similar to M. mali, but with some differences. Detailed morphological and molecular characterization confirmed the status of te new species, Meloidogyne paramali Gu ett al., 2023.
Sedentary endoparasite.
