Economic Importance:

Reported on coffee in El Salvador (Carneiro et al., 2005). One of at least 17 species of Meloidogyne reported on coffee.

Ecophysiological Parameters:

For Ecophysiological Parameters for this species, click If species level data are not available, click for genus level parameters

Chromosome number 2n=44-48. The large number, and variability of chromosome number, are typical of species reproducing by obligate mitotic parthenogenesis. (Carneira et al., 2005; Subbotin et al., 2021; Triantaphyllou, 1985).

Damage:

Meloidogyne izalcoensis induces round galls in coffee roots with egg masses outside the galls, in cotrast to M. exigua which induces round galls with egg masses within the galls (Humphreys-Pereira et al., 2014).
