Morphology and Anatomy:

Morphologically unique among the family Tylenchidae in having zigzag margins of the annuli, the lateral fields with two sharp longitudinal ridges and the absence of caudal alae in the males (Panahandeh et al., 2019).

Female:

  • Slender nematodes, rounded head and slender conoid tail.
  • Cuticle with deep transverse striae between narrow annuli which havecomplex notches and cuticular projections.
  • Lateral field with two incisures forming an elevated band between them.
  • Cephalic region not offset from body contour
  • Amphids elongate slits
  • Stylet delicate with conus 50% of length.
  • Metacorpus muscular and well-developed.
  • Vulva a simple slit
  • Spermatheca offset, squarish to rounded shape.
  • Post-uterine sac absent or very small.
  • Postcorpus elongate and pyriform.

Male: 

  • Similar to female in general morphology.
  • Caudal alae absent
  • Anterior lip of cloaca overlapping.

Distribution:

The genus is rarely reported. Species have been described from central Europe and Iran.
