Rhadinaphelenchus was designated a junior synonym of Bursaphelenchus by Baujard (1989) as it has all the same characters including a subterminal bursa; but differs only in having a greater length to width ratio ('a' ratio), being very long and slender.
Males have characteristic, terminal caudal alae similar to those in Parasitaphelenchus and Huntaphelenchoides (insect parasites). Nickle suggests this genus may belong in Parasitaphelenchinae, but note Baujard synonymy with Bursaphelenchus.
Refer to Bursaphelenchus for more detail on this genus.
Male tail is curved and pointed with short, oval caudal alae at tail tip - hence the genus name Bursaphelenchus.
Caudal papillae occur throughout the Aphelenchina.
