Tylenchida Tylenchina Tylenchoidea Tylenchidae
Boleodorinae
Sakia Khan, 1964
Synonyms:
Basiliophora
Sakia is generally reported to have a fusiform, non-valvate metacorpus but a population reported by Troccoli and Geraert (2008) and identified as S. indica, has a median bulb with refractive valve.
The original decription of the type species (S. typica) appars to have been in the abstract of a presentation by Khan (1964) at a conference. The description did not include illustrations and is generally considered to have been inadequiate. That has led to doubt about the validity of the genus by some authors, e.g. Andrassy (2007).
Sakia has strong similarities with Lelenchus and Polenchus. The genus is separated from others by chracterisrics of the amphids. The amphidial pouches in Lelenchus are large and pocket-shaped for all known species, but large amphids are not seen in Sakia where the amphid openings are on the lip region but indistict. The stylet conus is 1/3 of the stylet length in Sakia, but 1/2 of the stylet length in Polenchus (Panahandeh et al., 2018).
