Morphology and Anatomy:

See Xiphinema americanum  (sensu lato vs. sensu stricto - the species concept - Lamberti/ McKenry/Brown and Trudgill discussions (Plant Disease, 1987); - Griesbach contribution - Ph.D. dissertation, UCD).  Griesbach and Maggenti synonymized X. californicum with X. americanum but the synonymy was recently rejected.

Confusion still reigns!...  McKenry and Lamberti toured the Western US collecting populations in 1999 - more news soon.
