Morphology and Anatomy:

• Slender to semi-obese, cylindrical nematodes, barely curved around ventral axis.
• Lacking sexual dimorphism in head, pharyngeal and tail characters.
• Cuticle with fine annulations, head offset.
• Stylet short, 9-12 um, robust, with rounded knobs.
• Pharynx with non-muscular fusiform median bulb, valve may be present. P
• haryngeal glands contained in a large terminal bulb abutting intestine, three large nuclei present.
• Secretory/excretory pore opening 1- 1.5 body diam. posterior to nerve ring.

Female:

• Monodelphic, prodelphic; gonad with quadricolumella and post-uterine sac.
• Tail bluntly rounded bu with variable shape.

Male:

• Spicules arcuate, gubernaculum simple.
• Bursa arising 1-2 cloacal body diam. anterior to cloacal, extending nearly to tail tip.
• Tail medium, conoid, tip shape variable, usually bluntly rounded in male.

Distribution:

Litylenchus coprosma was described from the leaves of Coprosma repens in Wellington, on the North Island of New Zealand.
