Devibursaphelenchus Kakuliya, 1967

The genus was considered by Andrassy (2007) to be a junior synonym of Bursaphelenchus. However, it is currently recognized by othe authorities, e.g. Kanzaki et al., 2022,

Morphology and Anatomy:

Strong stylet with wide lumen, usually without basal thickenings or knobs
Lip region offset by a constriction.
Propminent aphelenchid metacorpus, elongate-oval.
Excretroy pore posterior to metacorpus.
Vulva posterior, without flap; vagina usually sclerotized.
Male tail strongly curved with distinct terminal bursa; strong hook-shaped spicules.

Usually found associated with tree bark and associated with bark beetle galleries. Some species have predaory behavior on other nematodes. For example, males, females and juveniles of Devibursaphelenchus wangi were observed feeding on Aphelenchoides sp. The bodies of Aphelenchoides sp. were penetrated by the stylets of D. wangi (Gu et al., 2010).
