Morphology and Anatomy:

Pseudaphelenchus is considered to be an intermediate clade between Aphelenchidae Fuchs, 1937 and Aphelenchoididae Skarbilovich, 1947 because it has a tylenchid-like bursa and aphelench-like esophageal glands and a phylogenetic position that is basal to the other aphelenchoidids.

There are similarities between Pseudaphelenchus and Tylaphelenchus Ruhm, 1956 so Kanzaki et al (2014) established the subfamily Tylaphelenchinae Kanzaki, Li, Lan & Giblin-Davis, 2014. .
