        Cuticularia oxycerca (De Man, 1895) Andrassy, 1983

Sudhaus (1980) regarded the genus Cuticularia a junior synonym of Poikilolaimus Fuchs, 1930, but Andrassy redesignated it as a valid genus status.

Morphology and Anatomy:

 

Cuticularia oxycerca is distinguished by;

  • large body size (> 1,000 um in females),

  • loose cuticle with fine striations;

  • continuous contour of head region, with low lips and small labial papillae;

  • long, slightly anisotopic stoma with 3x2 denticles,

  • esophageal corpus slightly swollen, or not;

  • tail short, hemispherical-spicate shape.

Female:

  • Didelphic

Male:

  • common;

  • spicules separate at tip;

  • bursa leptoderan;

  • 9 pairs of papillae in posterior region, first pair lies far anterior to spicules;
