Note: Parapomponema is generally considered a synonym of Pomponema Cobb, 1917.  Characteristics like alternating rows of fine and coarswe puncttions  are not considered sufficient to justify its separation from Pomponema. (Cidreira et al., 2019).

Distribution:

Type species, Parapomponema hastatum collected in ecological investigations of the nematode fauna of a fine sand flat at Wrightsville Beach, north of Wilmington, North Carolina. Samples taken at various depths in the sediment at about the midtide level (Ott, 1972)
