Morphology and Anatomy:

Females:

  • Didelphic, amphidelphic, ovaries outstretched
 


Males:
 
  • Monorchic, testis outstretched
  • Pre-cloacal supplements present or absent
  • Spicules short, arcuate, and with well-developed capitulum;
  • Gubernaculum present

Distribution:

Relatively uncomon genus. Species have been descrinbed from shallow bottom sediments of the North Sea and Indian Ocean. However, S. confusa is described from deeper ocean on the continental margin of New Zealand at 350 and 686 m depth.  (Leduc and Verschelde, 2015).
