Morphology and Anatomy:

Body elongate spindle-shaped to nearly cylindrical apart from tail.
Body yellowish to brownish, with epidermal inclusions more densely pigmented .
Body cuticle finely annulated,fused and split in different areas; no apparent laterl fields..
Cephalic cuticle non-annulated and modified into a hemispherical and slightly convex cephalic capsule. Cephalic without striation, wrinkled around mouth opening,
Six inner labia, six outer labial short peg-like papillae, and four slender cylindrical cephalic setae .
Somatic setae slender, cylindrical, truncated apically; fairly numerous, arranged in irregular longitudinal rows.
Amphideal fovea spirally coiled in 1.5 turns, in the middle of the cephalic capsule.
Cheilostoma tight, pharyngostoma narrow with a small slightly sclerotized triangular tooth.
Pharynx evenly muscular throughout its length and terminated in a rounded bulb.
Cardia not surrounded by intestine, trapezoidal,
Tail elongate conical,, with terminal cone devoid of cuticular annulation

Females:

Didelphic, amphidelphic, ovaries reflexed.

Males:

Monorchic, testis outstretched
Spermatozoa rather large, oval, with slightly radially striated cortex.
Spicules short, flat, arcuate.
Gubernaculum paired short bars parallel to distal parts of the spicules.
No supplements; short midventral setae.

Distribution:

Collected from Lucky Strike hydrothermal site in mid-Atlantic Ridge at depth 1682 m. Nematodes washed from sulphide tube overgrown with mussels.

Initial collection described by Verschelde et al. (1998) was from hydrothermal vents in the Lau Basin in the South-West Pacific atabout 1700 m depth at temperatures < 20C.

Feeding:

Free-living marine nematodes from ocean depths. Probably epistrate feeders with scraping tooth in stoma (Heip et al., 1998; Tchesunov, 2015)
