Sclerodorylaimus Ahmad, Tauheed & Beniyamuddin, 2010

Type species of the genus: Sclerodorylaimus enigmatus Ahmad, Tauheed & Beniyamuddin, 2010

The genus was proposed to accommodate Mesodorylaimus enigmatus since the sclerotized vestibule, thick-walled odontosyle and the characteristics of the esophageal did fit with the diagnosis of Mesodorylaimus.

Morphology and Anatomy:

   
  • Lip region truncate, offset by a slight depression
  • Vestibule tubular with wall distinctly thickened anteriorly
  • Odontostyle wide with thick walls, its ventral arm prominently furcate at base
  • Guiding ring single, weak
  • Odontophore rod-like
  • Pharyngeal expansion very gradual; with characteristic nature and arrangement of pharyngeal glands
  • Tail differs between sexes

Female:

  • Didalphic-amphidelphic female genital system
  • Vulva a small oval pore
  • Tail long filiform

Male:

  • Dorylaimoid spicules
  • Over 20 irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements
  • Tail short, conoid
