Type species of the genus: Pararhyssocolpus paradoxus  Elshishka, Lazarova, Radoslavov, Hristov & Peneva, 2015
Due to morphological and moecular differences from other geneea in the Nordiidae, Elshishka et al. (2015) proposed that Pararhyssocolpus be considered a member of a new family, Pararhyssocolpidae.
