Classification:

Enoplea
Nordiidae
Pungentinae

          Pungentella Andrassy, 2009
There may be a problem with the selection of the genus name because it is also the genus name of a moss (However, I don't knoe if the same genus name can be used for organisms in different Kingdoms)

Type species of the genus:  Pungentella microdenteta Andrassy, 2009

Morphology and Anatomy:

Most (perhaps all) of the species of Pungentella were in the genus Pungentus.  Andrassy (1963) pointed out that the species listed under Pungentus fell into two groups: one group with a long, curved odontostyle with a small aperture and a double guiding ring, the other with a short straight odontostyle with a larger aperture and a simple guiding ring.  In Andrassy (2009), he established the genus Pungentella to accomodate the latter group.
