Morphology and Anatomy:

The genus Scalpelus is characterized by:

continuous lip region with amalgamated lips\
outer and inner labial papillae close to each other
wine-glass-shaped amphid,
wide asymmetrical scalpel-like odontostyle
rod-like odontophore
short hemispheroid tail

Distribution:

Scalpelus. loofi was described from a bromeliad growing on tree branches about 1m above soil surfacel in a forest in Costa Rica.
