Nevadanema nevadense Alvarez-Ortega & Pena-Santiago, 2012

N. nevadense is the type-species of the genus.

Originally described in Qudsianematidae and later transferred to Dorylaimidae, sub family Labronematinae.

Morphology and Anatomy:

Moderately slender to slender, medium to large size, 2.36-3.20 mm long.\
Body cylindrical, tapering towards anterior end.
Cuticle two-layered, outer layer nearly smooth under LM but bearing fine transverse striation throughout body under SEM.
Body pores numerous with four dorsal and four ventral pores in anterior region at level of odontostyle and odontophore, ventral pores present along entire body, but more distinct in posterior region.
Lateral chord 15-28 Î¼m wide, occupying 20-30% of mid-body diam.
Lip region rounded or somewhat cap-like, 2.5-3.2 times as broad as high and ca one-fourth (23-31%) of body diam. at neck base. Lips completely amalgamated with button-like papillae.
Oral aperture surrounded by a ring-like area, apparently separated from inner portion of lips by a deep circular incisure.
Amphid fovea funnel-shaped, aperture 42-51% of lip region diam.
Cheilostom nearly cylindrical, lacking any differentiation.
Odontostyle comparatively long and slender, 1.5-1.7 times as long as lip region diam. aperture occupying 21-24% of its length.
Guiding ring double with fixed ring at ca one lip region diam. from anterior end.
Odontophore linear, rod-like, 1.4-1.6 times as long as odontostyle.
Esophagus enlarging very gradually to a basal expansion occupying 53- 60% of total neck length.
Nerve ring located at 26-31% of total neck length.
Cardia conical, (22-27) Ã— (15-21) Î¼m, its junction with pharynx base surrounded by weak ring-like structure.
Tail rounded conoid, two pairs of caudal pores at middle of tail.

Female:

Genital system didelphic-amphidelphic, both branches equally well developed.
Ovaries usually large, often extending beyond sphincter level.
Oocytes arranged first in two or more rows, then in a single row.
Oviduct 1.4-2.4 times corresponding body diam.,
Oviduct-uterus junction surrounded by a sphincter. Uterus a simple tube 1.1-1.8 times the corresponding body diam.
Vagina extending inwards 334-56% of body diam., pars proximalis with somewhat sigmoid walls and surrounded by weak musculature, pars refringens with two distinct, triangular pieces separated by a less refractive intermediate area, pars distalis short.
Vulva a very short, almost equatorial, longitudinal slit, opening partially covered by two lateral flaps.

Males: Unknown - but sperm observed in uteri of a few female specimens.

Described from Sierra Nevada National Park in Andalucia, Spain.
