Phallaxonchium attenuatum Jairajpuri & Dhanachand, 1978

P. attenuatum is the type species of the genis.

Morphology and Anatomy:

.

  • P. attenuatum is 1.1 to 1.4 mm long with a = 41 to 55, c = 63 to 68 in males, 55 to 72 in females;
  • Oodontostyle 8 to 10 mu m, odontophore 14 to 15 mu m, guiding ring less than one lip width from anterior end; 
  • Lip region is hemispherical, set off by a constriction. 
  • Tail in both sexes broadly rounded.
  • The first-stage juvenile has a long (74 to 84 mu m) filiform tail 8 to 9 anal body-widths long with hyaline part 76 to 82% of tail length.

 

Female:

  • V = 49 to 53.
  • Vulva a transverse slit:
  • Anterior genital branch a sac-like spermatheca separated by a sphincter from the posterior branch consisting of a short uterus, oviduct and reflexed ovary.

Males:  

  • Testes paired, opposed, anterior one outstretched, posterior one reflexed;
  • Supplements consisting of an adanal pair and 2 widely-spaced ventro-medians;
  • Spicule guiding pieces with trifid distal ends.

Distribution:

P. attenuatum was found in soil around roots of Psidium guajava in the Khongjam hills, Thoubal, Manipur, India
