Aporcelinus elongicaudatus Varela-Benavides & Pena-Santiago, 2018

Morphology and Anatomy:

Small to medium size, 0.92-1.05 mm long.
Cuticle two-layered.
Lateral chord 5.0-7.5 um wide, occupying 11-15%) of mid-body diam. Body pores, if present, obscure.
Lip region angular, 2.8-3.0 times as wide as high, offset by weak constriction; lips moderately separate, with protruding papillae.
Amphid fovea funnel-shape, up to one-half of lip region diam.
Cheilostom a truncate cone, slightly longer than wide, with no differentiation.
Odontostyle strong, (1.0-1.2 times lip region diam.; aperture about one-half odontostyle length.
Guiding ring simple but distinct, located about 0.5 lip region diam. from the anterior end.
Odontophore rod-like, 1.8-2.0 times the odontostyle length.
Pharynx with slender but muscular anterior section gradually enlarging, with a posterior expansion 4.9-6.6 times as long as wide, 2.5-
3.0 times the corresponding body diam, and occupying ca. one-half of total neck length;
Nerve ring located about 36% of total neck length from the anterior end.
Pharyngo-intestinal junction withg a small dorsal lobe; cardia conical, 13.0 x 11.5 um. A dorsal cell mass is present behind the pharyngo-intestinal junction
Tail conical, elongated, consisting of an anterior convex and tapering portion and posterior, longer portion tapering gradually to a finely rounded tip which is bent dorsad.

Female:

Didelphic-amphidelphic, ovaries variable in length, reflexed, nearly always reaching beyond the oviduct-uterus junction;
Shallow sphincter separating the oviduct and uterus;
Uterus 0.70-0.85 times the corresponding body diam.; pars proximalis with slightly sigmoid walls, pars refringens of two trapezoidal to pieces; pars distalis rather refractive.
Vulva a transverse slit.
Two pairs of caudal pores located cklose to anus.

Males:

Not found probably exist because there were sperm cells in the uterus of one female.

Described from samples from premontane tropical forest in several locations in Alajuela province, Costa Rica.
