Goseco et al (1974) established the genus Meylis for species of Leptonchus with a disc-like projection on the head, cylindrical and constricted esophageal bulb, transverse and pre-equatorial vulva and the male having numerous (12 to 20) closely-spaced supplements. The species initially transferred were L. dicephalus and L. multipepillatus.
