Morphology and Anatomy:

Characteristice of the genus Vanderlindia: 

• Cuticle tylencholaimoid with distinct radial eloements
• Lip region offset from body contour
• Odontostyle strongly sclerotized, curved ventrally,
• Odontophore dorylaimoid.
• Esophagus muscular, cylindirical, emnlarging near middle
• A lobed organ of unknown function is associated with the anterior of the nerve ring.
• Female didelphic
• Male with a double row of ventromedian supplements.

Chitwoodius and Vanderlindia are similar with regard to the above features.  Both genera were assigned by Siddiqi (1983) to the subfamily Vanderlindinae Siddiqi, 1969 of the Tylencholaimidae.

Distribution:

The type species, Vanderlindia duplopapiillata, was described from soil around the roots of indigenous grasses in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Feeding:

Nematodes in the Tylencholaimidae often considered fungal feeders (Yeates et al., 1993)
