Morphology and Anatomy:

Although in a different family of the Cosmocercidea (Atractidae), species of Labeonema are considered to be morphologically very similar to Raillietnema of the family Cosmocercidae. One difference is that females of Labonema are monodelpghic prodalphic while those of Raillietnema are didelphic amphidelphic while the postion of the vulva is near mid body in both (Moravec et al., 2025)

From description of Raillietnema kritscheri:

Males:

  • Spicules short (180-300 um), equal,  bent ventrally, well sclerotized, with pointed tips
  •  Gubernaculum well sclerotized
  • Caudal alae supported by caudal papillae
  • Tail without rosette papillae or plectanes

Females:

  • Didelphic, amphidelphic; ovaries short, posterior ovary anterior to level of vulva.
  • Vulva postequatorial at 66-68% of body length; vulval lips may be somewhat elevated.
  • Vagina directed anteriorly from vulva.
  • Ovaries short
  • Few large eggs, >100um
