The genus is often considedr a subgenus of Tricoma

Morphology and Anatomy:

• Head triangular, never broad.
• 33  to 66 asymmetrical desmen with triangular outline, wider at their anterior border in the anterior part of the body and reversing at some point, closely spaced with virtually no gaps between them.
• Arrangement and structure of somatic setae tricomoid.
• Esophagus mainly cylindrical.
• Ocelli as rounded dark-brownish pigment spots, smaller in females than in males

Female:

• Didelphic-amphidelphic ovaries outstretched
• Two spermathecae
• Vulva situated halfway along the body length.

Male:

• Diorchic
• Gubernaculum present with paired apophyses

Distribution:

Free-living marine nematodes. Type species described from McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. Other speciers reported from Mocambique Channel, near Ile Glorieuses, at 3700m depth and muddy sediment in South China Sea.
