Nematodes recovered from three species of sharks off the coast of New Caledonia had characteristics previously described for the anisakid nematode genus Terranova Leiper & Atkinson, 1914.. However, since the type species of thet genus has been designated species inquirenda, the genus Terranova is no longer considered valid. Based on their characteristics, the nematodes were assigned to two new genera: Euterranova and Neoterranova. The new genera differ mainly in labial structures. (Moravec and Justine, 2020).
Type species of the genus Neoterranova is N. scoliodontus (Baylis, 1931) Moravec & Justine, 2020
