Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Cuticle ca 2.0 um thick, finely striated.

  •  Lateral field of three incisures, poorly visible under LM, and occupying 12-18% of corresponding body diam. at mid-body.

  • Lip region continuous with body contour, consisting of six fused lips, edge of lip region with six acute, seta-like labial papillae directed anteriad

  • Four cephalic papillae located just posterior to labial setae.

  • Amphids with oval aperture, located at base of lateral lips.

  • Stoma ca 0.7-1.0 times longer than lip width, heavily sclerotiized, consisting of cheilostom, gymnostom and stegostom; buccal cavity (cheilostom + gymnostom) 1.0-1.2 times longer than wide; stegostom 1-3 um long, with funnel-shaped lumen.

  • Dorsal gland opening at base of stegostom.

  • Esophagus 12-15% of total body length, cephaloboid,  procorpus subcylindrical, metacorpus slightly swollen, isthmus subcylindrical, slightly narrower at nerve ring level, basal bulb almost pyriform, with developed glottoid apparatus.

  • Cardia conoid, surrounded by intestinal tissue.

  • Excretory pore situated at level of anterior part of isthmus.

  • Hemizonid at excretory pore level, slightly posterior to nerve ring.

  • Deirid located posterior to nerve ring, located 10-11 annuli posterior to excretory pore and within lateral field.

  • Reproductive system monodelphic-prodelphic reflexed, ovary straight, spheroid spermatheca slightly set off from uterus, uterus 4.3-5.8 times as long as corresponding body diam., differentiated into a distal tubular part and a proximal part with thin walls.

  • Post-vulval uterine sac short, 3.8-4.8 um long; vulva slightly post-equatorial and slightly protruding.

  • Male not seen, no sperm in spermatheca by Shokoohi et al (2018) but males reported in original species description b Truskova and Eroshenko (1977).

  • Rectum 1.2-1.6 anal body diam. long.

  • Tail initially conical, then tapering gradually, terminus pointed, variable in length and slightly dorsally curved.

  • Phasmids at 54-60% of tail length
