Skrjabillanus Schigin & Schigina, 1958
A genus of parasites of freshwater fish.
Synonyms:
Agrachanus Tichomirova, 1971
**Mainly from description of S. cyprini (Molnar and Moravec, 1997)
Species of this genus have been introduced into Europe with fish imported for breeding and culture (Molnar, 1989).
Reported as intestional and swim-bladder parasites of grasscarp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) from farmponds in Hungary.
Also, S. cyprini is reported in Hungary from the subsquamal part of the scales of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (Molnar and Moravec, 1997).
Molnar (1989) repots that Skrjabillanus spp. use the fish louse (Argulus) as an intermediate host. Most parasitized fish are more than two years old but it is uncertain whether fish younger than two years are free from skrjabillanids because they are kept in ponds free from fish louse, or because susceptibility is age dependent.
