Described as a subgenus by Maravec and Sey (1986) and elevated to genus level by Ben Slimane et al. (1986).
Morphology of male gubernaculum and spicules are distinguishing characters of the genus.
Males shorter than females.
Mouth with three inconspicuous lips bearing small papillae
Esophagus club-shaped, widening posteriorly.
Males possess a single precloacal sucker
Monorchic
Synlophe preseent: longitudinal cuticular cresta and lines in diagnostic arrangement.
Both sexes with cervical alae.
Female amphidelphic, ovaries reflexed.
