Oceanicucullanus chitwoodae Le-Van-Hoa & Pham-Ngoc-Khue, 1971

Synonyms:

Morphology and Anatomy:

Medium-sized nematodes 9-12 mm long, with slightly transversely striated cuticle, anterior end rounded.
Lacking lateral alae.
Oral aperture triangular, with narrow margin and three rounded rudimentary lips (one dorsal and two ventrolateral), surrounded by four finger-shaped cephalic papillae.
Amphid apertures lateral to oral aperture.
Eesophagus short and thick, muscular, expanded at anterior end to form rather large osophastome; posteriorly also expanded.
Valve structure beetween esophagus and intestine.
Nerve ring encircles esophagus just posterior to buccal capsule.
Deirids small, rounded, slightly posterior to esophago-intestinal junction.
Excretory pore posterior to level of deirids.
Tail conical, with pointed tip.

Female:

Didelphic, amphidelphic; vulva postequatorial, uteri opposed.
Vulval lips not elevated.
Vagina muscular, directed anteriorly from vulva.

Male:

Caudal alae, lateral, poorly-developed; short lateral caudal alae present at cloacal region.
Spicules sclerotized, short, equal length.
Gubernaculum absent.
Ventral precloacal surface with numerous oblique muscle bands
Six pairs of precloacal subventral papillae; 1 pair of lateral adcloacal papillae; 5 pairs of postcloacal, 4 pairs subventrals and 1 pair lateral.
Phasmids small, situated laterally between first and second pairs of subventral papillae

Distribution:

Described as an intestinal parasaite of the freshwater fish, Mystacoleucus marginatus in the Ping River, Muamg District, Thailand (Moravec and Yooyen, 2011).
