Morphology and Anatomy:

Female:  

  • Cuticle distictly annulated with spiny region anteriorly, annuli less marked in the rest of body.
  • Spines (cuticular projections from second cephalic annule to level of base of esophageal isthmus.
  • Lateral alae commence at level of the isthmus, within the spiny region and extending to about 3 vbw posterior to the vulva.
  • Head with bearing eight rounded paired papillae; set-off from body by a deep groove,
  •  Amphids lateral, pore-like.
  • Mouth circular. Stoma about four head-lengths long, surrounded by an esophageal collar. Lumen of anterior region of stoma triangular, with a ridge in each side.
  • Esophagus with a muscular clavate procorpus, isthmus and rounded basal bulb with well-developed valve plate
  • Nerve ring encircling procorpus at about its midpoint. Excretory pore situated at about half of body width posterior to basal bulb.
  • Monodelphic-prodelphic, vulva near midbody,
  •  Ovary reflexed behind the excretory pore
  • Eggs ovoid, shell with eight rough, longitudinal, ridges.
  • Tail conical, subulate, ending in a sharp point.

Described from beetles, Pentalobus barbatus (Passalidae, Coleoptera), in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of Congo
