Morphology and Anatomy:

Characteristics of the genus:

Males:

  •  Buccal capsule long tubular with striated cuticular wall without cuticularized tooth-like structures in posterior.
  •  Lateral alae present.
  •  Tail very short, truncated with caudal alae.
  • Spicule absent.
  • Caudal papillae 5 to 6 pairs.
  • Median ventral rod-like projection just behind the cloaca.

Females:

  • Cephalic extremity a single lip cone.
  • Buccal capsule long, tubular with striated cuticular wall, posterior
    part of which may possess three cuticularized tooth-like structures.
  • Esophageal corpus cylindrical. Prominent cardia with or without modification into a long tubular structure.
  • Vulva between middle and posterior-third of body. Vagina
    short and directed anteriorly.
  • Gonads amphididelphic, ovaries reflexed and reaching esophageal region.
  • Eggs attached to each other in strings by polar filaments.
  • Tail conical or subulate.
