           Thelazia orissae Majumdar & Dey Sarkar, 1989

Morphology and Anatomy:

• Cuticle with fine transverse striations
• two lateral and four submedian cephalic papillae
• Stoma without lips.
• Buccal capsule small
• Pharynx short.
• Tail bluntly rounded in both sexes

Males:

• Tail curved ventrally, bluntly rounded.
• Bursa small, limited to cloacal region.
• Ventromedian caudal papillae in 12 pairs, three are postcloacal and nine precloacal.
• Spicules unequal and dissimilar; the right spicule is alate, rounded distally with a bulbular swelling, the left is slender, simple, pointed, with a slight swelling
• Gubernaculum poorly developed.

Females:

• Tail long, rounded, curved ventrally.
• Vulva located anteriorly, in the pharyngeal region, on a prominence
• Diselphic, amphidelphic.
• Viviparous

Distribution:

Thelazia orissae is a parasiteof the eye of a bird. Described from specimens under the nictationg membrane of the Crested Honey Buzzard, Pernis ptilorhynchus ruficollis in Orisssa, India (Majumdar and Dey Sarkar, 1989).
