Free-living marine nematodes.

Members of the Draconematinae have general characteristics of the family Draconematidae

  • Free-living marine nematodes
  • Pharynx largely cylindrical with terminal bulb well defined or weakly developed (e.g. Dracogalerus, Notochaetosoma); medium swelling of corpus present in Dracognomus.
  • Swollen anterior body region usually marked;
  • Helmet present (except in Dinetia).
  • Cephalic adhesion tubes with or without swollen base at insertion and with or without open tip; located on helmet or posterior to helmet.
  • Buccal cavity small or moderately to well developed with one dorsal tooth, with or without two small subventral teeth; exceptionally narrow and unarmed in Dinetia, Dracogalerus, Notochaetosoma.
