Members of the Draconematinae have general characteristics of the family
Draconematidae
- Free-living marine nematodes
- Pharynx largely cylindrical with terminal bulb well defined or weakly
developed (e.g. Dracogalerus, Notochaetosoma); medium
swelling of corpus present in Dracognomus.
- Swollen anterior body region usually marked;
- Helmet present (except in Dinetia).
- Cephalic adhesion tubes with or without swollen base at insertion and
with or without open tip; located on helmet or posterior to helmet.
- Buccal cavity small or moderately to well developed with one dorsal
tooth, with or without two small subventral teeth; exceptionally narrow and
unarmed in Dinetia, Dracogalerus, Notochaetosoma.
