Crateronematidae Siddiqi, 1969
A family of soil-inhabiting Derylaimida. Mainly reported in terrestrial habitats.
Cuticle thin.
Lip region off set.
Lips separate.
Odontostyle thin, with small aperture
Guiding sheath .
Esopagus enlarging at around 50% of its length.
Female gonads diovarial, amphidelphic.
Vulva pore-like; vagina without sclerotizations.
Male with few supplements. Spicules without central thickening.
Tail elongate conoid in both sexes.
Taxonomic evolution:
Siddiqi (1969 proposed the family Crateronematidae to accommodate his newly proposed subfamilies Crateronematinae and Lordellonematinae
Vinciguerra (2006) recognized Lordellonematidae and Crateronematidae as separate families under Dorylaimoidea.
Andrassy (2009) accepted Crateronematinae with three genera Chrysonema, Crateronema and Oonaguntus and Lordellonematinae with five genera under Crateronematidae.
