Brachydorus tenuis De Guiran & Germani, 1968 is the type species of the genus.

Morphology and Anatomy:

.

  •  Labial region rounded, slightly offset, roughly quadrangular in face view but not divided into 4 lobes, not annulated. 
  • Amphid apertures not known (no available SEM study).

  • Stylet short, robust (20 to 23um)

  • Procorpus long, cylindrical, not amalgamated with metacorpus.  

  • Postcorpus a basla bulb butting into intestine.

  • Lateral field with four incisures, not areolated.  

Female:

  • Didelphic, amphidelphic, ovaries outstretched with oocytes in a single line.
  • Tail elongated (c' = 3.8 to 7.8; c = 8.6-11.5), extremely pointed.  

Male:

  • Same general morphology as female.
  • Monorchic, testis outstretched.
  • Spicules curved.
  • Bursa lobed and extending beyond tail tip.

Distribution:

Described from soil around the roots of the tarveller's tree (Ravenala madagascariensis - earlier considered a banana relative, family Musaceae; now considered a member of the family Strelitziaceae).
