Chromadorea Rhabditida Tylenchina Tylenchoidea Meloidogynidae Meloidogyninae
Meloidogyne microcephala Cliff & Hirschmann, 1984
Review general characteristics of the genus Meloidogyne.
Reported median body size for this species (Length mm; width micrometers; weight micrograms) - Click:
.Type Host: tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). In differential host tests, the host range was similar to those of Meloidogtne arenaria, Race 2; that is, hosts were tobacco, watermelon and tomato while non-hosts were peanut, pepper and cotton (Cliff and Horschmann, 1984).
Ecophysiological Parameters:
Chromosome number 2n=37, 74. The large number, and variability of chromosome number, are typical of species reproducing by obligate mitotic parthenogenesis. (Triantaphyllou and Hirschmann, 1997; Subbotin et al., 2021; Triantaphyllou, 1985).
