           Radopholoides De Guiran, 1967

Type species of the genus: Radopholoides litoralis De Guiran, 1967

    Synonyms:

The genus Radopholoides was established for those Radopholus species having a monodelphic reproductive system where the posterior genital branch is reduced and non-functional (De Guiran, 1967). Variously, the genus Radopholoides has been synonymized to genus Radopholus (Luc, 1987) or Hoplotylus (Andrássy, 2007). Sturhan (2008) declared the validity of the genus Radopholoides after a detailed morphological comparison with Hoplotylus (Maria et al. (2017).

Morphology and Anatomy:

Radopholoides is characterized by the monodelphic female reproductive system, four (occasionally three) lateral lines, stylet less than 20 um long, dorsal overlap of the esophageal glands over the intestine, a conoid tail with rounded terminus, and phasmids located anteriorly in the tail region. The male has a high, rounded lip region  and  the bursa envelops the tail tip; the spicules are cephalated and pointed, the gubernaculum is about half as long as the spicule; the cloacal lips are raised and rounded (Geraert, 2013; Maria et al., 2017).

The major difference betwqeen Radopholoides and Radopholus is the absence of the posterior genital branch in females.

.

Female:
  • lip region  low and rounded
  • monodelphic, prodelphic
  • posterior genital branch reduced

Males:

  • head high and rounded
  • bursa enevlops tail
  • picules are cephalated and pointed
  • gubernaculum is about half as long as the spicule
  • cloacal lips are raised and rounded
