Type species of the genus: Scutylenchus mamiillatus (Tobar Jimenez, 1966) Jairajpuri, 1971
The genus has been considered by some authorities to be a synonym of Geocenamus (e.g. Geraert, 2011).

A Stunt nematode
Xu et al (2012) reported 4 lines in the lateral field of S. nyungsugae but that is in conflict with the 6 lines reported in the orioginal description of that species by Choi and Geraert (1993).
