           Tenunemellus Siddiqi, 1986

Type species of the genus: Tenunemellus tenuis (Corbett, 1964) Siddiqi, 1986

    Synonyms:
      Ecphyadophoroides Corbett, 1964

Corbett (1964) described two species form Malawi;  Ecphyadophoroides annulatus is the type species of Ecphyadophoroides while E. tenuis was erected by Siddiqi (1986) as the type species of the new genus Tenunemellus. It became Tenunemellus tenuis (Corbett, 1964) Siddiqi, 1986.

Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Very slender nematodes
  • Cuticle finely or coarsely striated
  • Lateral field obscure
  • Cephakic region flattened dorso-ventrally, without labial disc.
  • Amphideal fovea as longitudinal clefts  extending along most of lateral contour of cephalic regioon
  • Tail very long, pointed

Female:

  • Monodelphic prodelphic with post-vulval uterine sac
  • Vulva without lateral membranes, continuous with body contour.

Male:

  • Monorchic
  • Spicules cephalated, arcuate
  • Bursal flaps lobed, projecting posteriorly
  • Cloacal lips pointed, not forming a spicular tube
