Morphology and Anatomy:

Female::

  • Slender nematodes with short body, narrowing toward both extremities and posteriorly to filiform tail.
  • Cuticle smooth under light microscopy (LM), but finely annulated under SEM, lacking longitudinal lines.
  •  Lateral line a simple band with smooth margins.
  • Anterior end rounded in LM but four cephalic papillae  and 6 inner labial papillae visible in SEM.
  • Amphidial openings are long wavy sinuous slits  originating close to labial plate, extending laterally posteriorly, reaching and passing first body annulus, amphidial fovea spacious.
  • Stylet  with three knobs, slightly directed posteriorly, conus comprising ca one-third of total stylet length.
  •  Pharynx tylenchoid, metacorpus ovate with small valve, pharyngeal bulb pyriform to saccate.
  • Secretory-excretory pore at metacorpus level.
  • Intestine simple, rectum and anus functional.
  • Reproductive system monodelphic-prodelphic,ovary outstretched, oviduct barely visible, spermatheca rectangular with rounded corners to ovate in shape, crustaformeria quadricolumellate, uterus simple,
  • .Vulva with small lateral flaps under SEM and short post-vulval uterine sac (PUS).
  •  Tail filiform with pointed tip.

Male:

  • Similar to female in general morphology except for sexual characters.
  • Bursa simple, spicules small and slender, tylenchoid.

Distribution:

Described from 2m deep in saline sediments in a mangrove swamp in southern Iran.
