              Tenunemellus tenuis (Corbett, 1964) Siddiqi, 1986

Type species of tthe genus.

Corbett (1964) described two species from Malawi;  Ecphyadophoroides annulatus is the type species of Ecphyadophoroides while E. tenuis was erected by Siddiqi (1986) as the type species of the new genus Tenunemellus. It became Tenunemellus tenuis (Corbett, 1964) Siddiqi, 1986.

Morphology and Anatomy:

• Cuticle finely striated..
• Lateral field a plain refractive band, difficult to distinguish.
• Head flattened and with lip region elongated and smooth
• Stylet with rounded knobs, cone very slender.
• Esophagus appears tubular with no distinct metacorpus; postcorpus with a lobe overlapping the inttestine..

Female:

• monodelphic prodelphic
• postvulval uterine sac greater than 1 body width long.
• Tail elongate conoid to pointed tip.

Male:

• Monorchic Caudal alae conspicuous, extending about the length of the cloacal region.
• Gubernaculum simple, curved.

Distribution:

Described from seasonally waterlogged brassland (Fimbristylis sp.) near Zomba Mountain, Malawi.

Unknown. Based on stylet length and esophageal configuration, probably an ectoparasite of epidermal cells and root hair cells and/or of hyphae.
