Classification:

Chromadorea
       Rhabditida
       Tylenchina
        Tylenchoidea
           Merliniidae
             Merliniinae

          Paramerlinius Sturhan, 2012

    Synonyms:
      None.

Sturhan (2012) considered three characters for distinguishing Amplimerlinius from Paramerlinius:

 i) refractive inner cuticle layer at female and juvenile tail end (absent vs present);

ii) the thickness of hyaline region of the tail (thickened vs not thickened);

 iii) the number of lateral incisures at the position of the deirids (six vs four incisures).

Although the first two characters exist for all known species in Merliniinae, the third has not been shown for all species of Paramerlinius (Ghaderi, 2019).
