Morphology and Anatomy:

.

  • Body slender, slightly ventrally arcuate
  • Cuticle with fine annulations. Lateral field with four incisures.
  • Lip region with five or six annuli and six similar labial sectors offset, more than twice as broad as high.
  • Oral aperture surrounded by six inner labial papillae and four cephalic papillae. Outer labial papillae vestigial.
  • Amphidial apertures oval, on edges of labial plate.
  •  Stylet fine, conus occupying ca 40% of its total length, knobs small.
  • Procorpus cylindrical, metacorpus well developed, oval to spherical, with slightly anteriorly situated valves.
  • Dorsal pharyngeal gland orifice (DPGO) opening into lumen of metacorpus
  • Pharyngo-intestinal junction located half a metacorpal valve length posterior to base of metacorpus.
  •  Nerve ring ca one body diam. posterior to metacorpus.
  • Pharyngeal gland lobe a slender dorsl overlap of intestine.
  •  Excretory pore slightly posterior to nerve ring.

Female:

  • Monodelphic, prodelphic with ovary, oviduct, spermatheca, crustaformeria, uterus, vagina + vulva and long post-vulval uterine sac (PUS).
  • Ovary single, outstretched, developing oocytes arranged in 1-2 rows, several well-developed oocytes arranged in a single row.
  • Oviduct short and connected to an ovoid to oblonged spermatheca, filled with sperm cells.
  • Vagina slightly inclined anteriorly, with massive sclerotisation.
  • Vulva a traverse slit, anterior vulval lip modified into a long vulval flap covering the posterior vulval lip.
  •  Anus distinct, its lips slightly elevated.
  • Tail conoid, slightly ventrally curved with a stalk ending in 8-12 finger-like projections.(seen clearly under SEM).eneral morphology similar to male.

Male:

  • Body slender, J-shaped when heat-killed.
  • Cuticle and anterior body region similar to those of female.
  • Monorchis, testis located on left side of intestine, outstretched, developing spermatocytes in a single column.
  • Anterior partof testis containing developing spermatocytes in a single row, gradually developing into two rows.
  • Posterior part of gonad forming vas deferens, containing several well developed sperm,
  • Cloacal lips not protruding.
  • Spicules paired, condylus small, triangular to rounded, rostrum very short with a bluntly rounded tip, capitulum straight, lamina/calomus complex smoothly ventrally curved to distal end. Distal end of spicules truncate, cucullus absent.
  • Two pairs of subventral papillae present, first precloacal papillae subventral, located slightly anterior to cloacal opening, second postcloacal subventral papillae at middle of tail.
  • Tail conoid, ventrally curved, terminus similar to that of female.
  • Bursa absent
