Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Small nematodes 0.50-1.00mm long
  • Body fusiform, distinctly tapering towards both extremes.
  • Cuticle sculpturing complex: anterior region bearing transverse striation, then with longitudinal ridges separated by furrows displaying rows of small pores (punctuations).
  • Lip region consisting of two elements: a thin anterior hexangular (hexagonal or hexastellate) perioral disc, and a thick posterior annulus bearing four setiform sensilla.
  • Amphid aperture, if present, very small, pore-like.
  • Stoma a narrow, tube-like, often occupying 52-72% of total neck length.
  • Pharynx a more or less cylindrical, bibulbar, panduriform or arachiform.
  • Tail conical elongate to filiform, ending in acute tip.

Female:

  • Didelphic-amphidelphic, with reflexed ovaries,
  • Poorly differentiated genital tract, and complex vaginal sclerotization consisting of two median (anterior and posterior) and two lateral (left and right) pieces.

Male:

  • Spicules 16-26um long, strongly curved ventrad, and simple structure.
  • Gubernaculum plate-like, with caudal apophyses and lateral rectangular elements.
  • Ventromedian ssupplements 2-11.
