Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Body length 0.6-0.9 mm
  • Cuticle smooth to very finely striated
  • Anterior end bottle-shaped with head narrower than adjacent neck region; a distinguishin feature (Lagenos = bottle (Greek)).
  • Amphids small
  • Odontostyle straight, length > 1.5x lip width; aperture small.
  • Lips amalgamated; labial framwewqork well sclerotized.
  • Esophageal expansion starts posterior the middle.
  • Tail either uniformly tapered or first convex-conoid then strongly narrowed.

    Females:
  • Gonad monodelphic opisthodelphic.
  • Anterior uterine sac very small, almost absent.

    Males:
  • Unknown.
