Classification:

 Type species of the genus:  Thorneella teres (Thorne & Swanger, 1936) Andrassy, 1960

Morphology and Anatomy:

• Body around 1.5 mm long
• Cuticle smooth
• Lip region continuous with body contour
• Amphids somewhat rounded
• Odontostyle about as long as lip width
• Esophagus enlargement starting posterior to the middle

Female:

• Didelphic, amphidelphic

Male:

• Spicules slender
• No ventromedian supplements

Andrassy (2009) noted the similarity of morpholohgy and habitat with that of Sphaeroamphis.
