          Thornedia Hussain & Khan, 1965

Thornedia was considered by Siddiqi (2007) to be a subgenus of Longidorella.  However, Andrassy (2009) considered that the conoid head, amalgamated lips and  subcylindroid tail were sufficient to distinguish it from Longidorella.

Morphology and Anatomy:

• Body <1 mm long, stout;
• Ccephalic region narrow: conoid-truncate; lips amalgamated
• Odontostyle long and very thin, about 3-4 x head width
• Esophagus widening in posterior third
• Tail cylindroid with broadly-rounded terminus

Female:

• Monodelphic-opisthodelphic or Didelphic-ampidelphic

Male:

• Male uncknown

Distribution:

Species reported from Asia and Africa.

Possibly plant feeding as in other genera of the Nordiidae; may be omnivores (Yeates et al., 1993)
