Morphology and Anatomy:

The smooth cuticle of the sub-family Cephalodorylaiminae and the setose outer labial sensillae distinguish the subfamily from the Encholaiminae within the family Encholaimidae.

 

  • Body 0.9-1.1 mm long
  • Cuticle smooth

  • Lip region conoid with six long setose inner labial sensilla

  • Odontostyleattenuated, aperture indistinct

  • Esophagus enlargement pyriform, starting at > 50% of esophagus length;

  • Tail elongate conoid

Female:

  • Monodelphic, opisthodelphic; no prevulval sac.

Male:

  • 3 supplements, wiedly spaced

Distribution:

Type species of the genus, E. tersus, described from soil in Colombia, South America.
